The Web CG Quarterly

Classic Gaming Quarterly is an online fanzine dedicated to the enjoyment and preservation of obsolete interactive entertainment. It is written by, and for, fans of classic gaming and classic gaming journalism. CGQ features reviews of both classic games and modern games of interest to classic gaming enthusiasts. It also features in-depth book reviews, series overviews, and the technical aspects of classic gaming.

Classic Gaming Quarterly was originally conceived in the Winter of 2006 as an idea for a fanzine focused on 16-bit gaming called "Sweet 16" that was going to be print-only. Although it is still possible that CGQ will at times release digest-sized print editions as a promotion, for now it is an online-only venture.

Classic Gaming Quarterly is currently staffed by the following folks:

Chris Alaimo (Creator, Editor-in-Chief): With a childhood steeped in the 1980's, Chris cut his gaming teeth on the Nintendo Entertainment System as well as the popular arcade titles of the day. For the last decade he has been collecting games and gaming-related items from the Atari VCS era up through the modern day. When he is not playing or reviewing games, he enjoys collecting and reading issues of EGM, GamePro, and Nintendo Power from the late 80's and early 90's, and listening to various gaming podcasts such as Twitch Asylum, A Life Well Wasted, Chatterbox, and Digital Cowboys.

Anthony Norcia (Contributing Editor): A chronic early-adopter, Anthony brings the experience of someone who owned nearly every gaming console on the day of its release. Also a home theater hobbyist, Anthony enjoys finding new ways to enjoy his classic games with the highest possible video and audio quality. Although he still plays his share of classic games, Anthony is well-versed in the modern consoles of the day.

Sam Witt (Guest contributor): Though born too late to fully experience the early years of gaming, Sam has developed a deep respect for the classics. He is a hardcore modern gamer but also has an extensive knowledge in the classics and collects for a variety of older consoles. Besides gaming, he enjoys both reading novelizations of and watching movies based on video games.

Chris Lawrence (Guest contributor): Chris is an M.A. student at Carleton University studying English Literature and an amateur Science Fiction writer. He likes to waste his student funding on NES games and Japanese beer. Chris currently resides in Ottawa, Canada.
